Tenure Track Assistant Professor
The positions are W2 fixed-term positions (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorships are funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
» Health Psychology «
We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Health Psychology with a focus on the promotion of mental health. This professorship should address lifestyle change related factors and physical activity as interventions to promote mental well-being and to prevent mental illness. A joint appointment with the TUM School of Medicine is anticipated.
» Health Sociology «
We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Health Sociology with a focus on social determi-nants of health and disease prevention as well as on the relationships between health and society. The professorship should develop and evaluate innovative strategies for increasing health education and health literacy in the society. The consideration of physical activity and physical literacy is desirable. A joint appointment with the TUM School of Governance is anticipated.
» Public Health Focus: Physical Activity and Prevention «
We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Public Health with a focus on research into disease prevention, health promotion, as well as morbidity and mortality reduction. A specific focus of this pro-fessorship will be researching physical activity as a preventive strategy in public health. A joint appoint-ment with the TUM School of Medicine or the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan is anticipated.
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are prerequisite. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
The three professorships belong to the Department of Sport and Health Sciences which is committed to further strengthening its expertise in the area of Health Sciences. The successful candidates are ex-pected to establish cooperation both within the Department of Sport and Health Sciences and with other Departments of TUM such as the School of Medicine, the School of Life Sciences, the School of Governance, or the School of Education.
Responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs, especially in the B.Sc. program Health Science and in the M.Sc. program Health Sciences – Prevention and Health Promotion.
